The open-source office suite with Faam AI built in
Write and edit Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PDF, Markdown and HTML files right on your computer. Files are saved in their real formats, and Faam AI edits them with you — using our cloud, your own API key, or AI that runs on your machine.
For macOS, Windows and Linux
Six apps, one installer
Every app opens and saves the real file format, so your files keep working with Microsoft Office, Google Docs or LibreOffice.
Docs
.docx
Write documents with styles, tables, images and a table of contents, and save standard .docx files anyone can open.
Sheets
.xlsx · .xlsm · .xls · .csv
Spreadsheets with formulas, formatting and charts. Opens legacy .xls files and .csv data too.
Slides
.pptx
Build presentations, adjust layouts, shapes and text, and save them as .pptx.
PDF
.pdf
Read, highlight, annotate and edit text directly in PDF files.
Markdown
.md
Write Markdown with a visual editing view — great for notes, technical docs and READMEs.
HTML
.html
Create and edit HTML pages, and export them to Word when you need to share.
Faam AI
An assistant that edits your documents directly
Every app has the Faam AI panel on the side. The assistant reads the open document and uses the editor's own tools to write, format, insert tables, fix formulas or build slides. You review the result and keep what you want.

You decide where AI runs
With local AI, content never leaves your machine. With your own API key, data goes straight to the provider you chose.

Is FaamOffice free?
Yes. FaamOffice is free and open source under the Apache-2.0 license. You only pay if you use an API key from a paid AI provider, or Faam AI Cloud credits.
Which operating systems does FaamOffice support?
macOS (Apple Silicon and Intel), 64-bit Windows, and Linux (AppImage, .deb, .rpm).
Do I need an account?
No. Every editor — and Faam AI with your own API key or local AI — works without signing in. A FaamOffice account is only needed for Faam AI Cloud.
Are my documents uploaded to a server?
Your files always stay on your computer. When you ask Faam AI for help, the relevant content is sent to the AI service you chose; with local AI (Ollama, LM Studio, llama.cpp) nothing leaves your machine.
Which models can Faam AI use?
Faam AI Cloud, or your API key for OpenAI, Anthropic Claude, Google Gemini, DeepSeek, xAI Grok, Mistral, Groq, OpenRouter, Qwen, Kimi, GLM, MiniMax, and any OpenAI-compatible server. To let Faam AI edit documents, choose a model that supports tool calling.
What are Faam AI Cloud credits?
Credits are the unit used to bill Faam AI Cloud. New accounts get free credits to try it, and each request uses credits based on the tokens processed. Your balance and history are on the Account page. There is no online payment yet; an administrator adds credits when needed.
Why does macOS or Windows warn me on first launch?
The installers are not yet signed by Apple or Microsoft. On macOS 15 and later, open the app, click Done when it is blocked, then go to System Settings → Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway (macOS 14 and earlier: right-click → Open). On Windows, when you see “Windows protected your PC”, choose More info and then Run anyway; if Windows 11 Smart App Control blocks it, there is no way to continue. Signed builds that skip these steps are on the way.
Is formatting preserved when I open Word or Excel files?
FaamOffice reads and writes the real formats (.docx, .xlsx, .pptx), so saved files open in Microsoft Office, Google Docs or LibreOffice. Very complex documents may show small visual differences.
